Classification is a matter between Ship-owners and Underwriters only.

Class is not a mandatory survey item for IMO. (International Maritime Organisation)

Therefore most flag stated do not require Classification.

In the world there are two main groups of Class-Society-Organisations.

- IACS-CLASS (See IACS website for more information)

Limdal Marine Services has a by IACS qualified “non- exclusive” surveyor.

- NON-IACS (approx. 50 survey organisations / Recognised Organisations)

Limdal Marine Services represents a number of these organisations.

The IACS-Class societies have agreed that “non-exclusive surveyors” may not do a Statutory or Class survey on board of seagoing vessel’s on their behalf.
